It's Friday again, and a pretty sombre one at that, and we're feeling in a somewhat reflective mood today.

But we've decided to go ahead with the Friday Forum - it's open slather as usual so go for it; meanwhile we take this opportunity to express our thoughts and prayers for our Hawkes Bay readers; Craig Foss has tweeted that the Bay is in shock.

My sympathy to the families involved.

To the men and women who serve in the police - kia kaha!

Thank you IV2 for your words.

This afternoon I will be sitting in with my father as he does the night shift from Te Puke to Auckland in a 2007 Kenworth.

Becoming a father really makes you realise how cyclic life is. I used to play Matchbox cars with him and argue about Kenworths and Macks. Now I'm going to be a passenger in a real one with him.

Then tomorrow I'm going to come home and play Lego with my son and end up building trucks (his 2nd choice after X-wing fighters off Star Wars). It's funny how the circle of life works.

The situation in Napier makes me realise how lucky I am to have my family.

In a semi-related note; Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers out there. Without out you there would be no one. Thanks for your sacrifices and hard work, it's appreciated.

Hold tight Mrs $1 Pies. Only five weeks until our next little truck driver is here :)

Have a great weekend Inv2!

Comments:

Great contribution $1 Pies - thanks for sharing that with us - and all the best for #2 - keep us posted!

And enjoy your drive to the Big Smoke with your Dad.

Comments:

Thoughts here are on the tragedy unfolding in Napier, especially the police dealing with it and the family and friends of all involved.

On a happier note - thanks for accepting the the tune a day challenge for NZ music month, it's introducing me to a whole new world of music.
